move your own mountain

Live to Lead is a Women Move Mountains programme created specifically for female Founders, CEOs and leaders from all sectors. Set in the heart of the Lake District, this retreat combines outdoor adventure with personal and professional development to help you recharge and reflect.

Before, during and after

Before
Planning and preparation
In the weeks before your retreat we’ll host a series of online sessions designed to prepare you both mentally and physically for the retreat. These sessions will guide you through everything you need to know before arriving in the Lake District.
As part of this preparation, we'll begin to explore any leadership challenges you’re currently facing. We’ll start thinking about how the lessons you’ll learn in the mountains (resilience, decision-making, overcoming obstacles) apply directly to your leadership journey. This sets the stage for deep reflection and growth during the retreat itself. You’ll have access to a range of resources, including training plans and how-to guides. We’re setting you up to walk into the retreat feeling confident and ready to tackle both the mountains and your leadership goals.

During
Adventure Retreat
Each day begins with a gentle (optional) guided yoga session followed by a day of exploration and skills development with a qualified Mountain Leader.
At the end of each expedition, after some time to reflect and recharge on your own, we’ll gather for facilitated reflection, discussion, and planning sessions. These sessions are designed to help you draw meaningful parallels between the experience of moving in the mountains and your experiences of leadership, exploring how the lessons learned on the trails can be applied. While we’ll be pushing ourselves physically and mentally, this is also a retreat. At the end of each adventurous day, you’ll return to a warm house, enjoy delicious meals, and sleep in comfortable beds, allowing you to fully recharge before the next day’s challenges.

After
Coaching and community
Following the retreat, you’ll have the option to continue your journey with one-on-one coaching. These sessions are designed to help you integrate the powerful lessons learned in the mountains into your everyday life, whether it’s building resilience, tackling leadership challenges, or pursuing new personal goals. We’ll work together to ensure that the inspiration and growth you experienced on the retreat translate into lasting changes and continued progress.
In addition, you’ll join a supportive community of women who have completed the Live to Lead programme. This network offers a space for ongoing support, shared experiences and inspiration. You'll also have exclusive access to future adventures and opportunities to continue your personal and leadership growth.

Fitness & ReadinessWe know that one of the most common reasons women cite for not signing up to active holidays, courses and retreats is the concern that they may not be fit enough. This is precisely why we have designed our programmes to include planning & preparation time so we can support you in 'getting ready' for your adventure retreat. This won't be an intense training regime, but we will share guidance, advice and tips on how to prepare physically. By the time you arrive you will need to be able to spend 4-6 hours moving at a gentle pace (this means comfortably being able to hold a conversation) carrying a backpack. If you are very inactive now and wondering if there will be enough time to get ready, why not get in touch and we can have a chat and see if this is the right programme at the right time.
-
AccommodationThe retreat will be based in a beautiful house on the shore of Coniston Water right in the heart of the National Park. You will have a private double room with en-suite bathroom. The house is equipped with a large social dining and living area where we will spend much of our evening time and there is also a secondary 'snug' for down time. Yoga sessions will take place in the studio adjacent to the main house.

Planning & PreparationYou've signed up for a week in the mountains, you're excited and raring to go, but you're thinking what do I take? What will it be like? Am I ready? Am I fit enough? Can I actually do this?! Don't worry, this is exactly why we start preparing with you and with your group in the weeks before you arrive in the mountains. In this time we will go through clothing and kit, making sure you know what to bring and why. We'll talk about fitness (see a dedicated section below on this), the types of activity we'll be doing, the weather and anything else on your mind so by the time you arrive, you feel really ready to enjoy your adventure. In this time we will also begin to discuss the specific challenges of leadership and work together as a group to begin thinking about the work we will be doing in relation to those challenges through the retreat.
-
ScheduleEach day will include an hour of guided yoga, 4-6 hours hiking (or other activity), a facilitated group session for reflection and discussion (these will have daily themes prepared in advance), a group planning & preparation session, dedicated meal time and some private time for relaxation. The precise order of events may vary depending on the planned activity for the day, this will always be discussed the day before.
-
CoachingCoaching is offered after your retreat to help you work towards a personal or professional goal. You can read more about what coaching is and how it works on our About page.
